LTI excels at the technology of data conversion data (including text and graphics), document imaging, automated records management, scanning and other related IT functions.  All workstations are  equipped with software to perform digitization of various textual and graphical data. With respect to Data Conversion, we are in alliance with the Intertribal Information Technology Company (IITC) is a consortium of Native American Information Technology firms that specialize in data conversion and data management.

Primary Document Conversion Services:

• Graphic Conversion:
  • Video Tracing™ : This process takes your original paper graphic and utilizes proprietary technology purchased from 4-Ward Technologies, Inc. This method digitally traces the original document into AutoCAD as it is viewed in 6x magnification through a video projector. The traced graphic image can remain in an AutoCAD format, or can be converted to a variety of other formats.
  • Scanning to Raster with Data Conversion to Vector Graphics: This process takes your original paper graphic and scans it into a raster based graphic format. The raster is then converted into a vector based graphic.
  • Scanning to Raster: Although we specialize in highly functional and advanced vector based graphics, contact us for high volume scanning to traditional raster formats as well (tif, bmp, jpeg). This service can also include digital cleaning/editing of your original images.
• Text Conversion:
  • Scanning Paper to SGML/XML or electronic documents to SGML/XML: This process takes your original paper or electronic documents and converts them to SGML/XML. These formats have a variety of applications and allow for extensive re-use and re-purposing of content. Among the many applications for these formats, SGML/XML are ideal for web-based viewing and publishing as well as high volume report distribution.
  • Scanning Paper to PDF: Although we specialize in SGML/XML conversion, PDF has long been considered the gold standard of electronic document formats; thus, we provide this service as well. This process takes your paper documents, scans them and converts them to PDF format. The functionality of the PDF format is highly variable; consult with us to ascertain your desired level of functionality.
  • Scanning Paper to Native Formats: This process takes your paper original, scans it and converts it into "native formats" (i.e., MS Word, WordPerfect, Excel, etc.). This process is ideal for archived materials that you need electronically.
  • IETM Integration: Integration of Text and Graphics – IETM (Interactive Electronic Technical Manual): Allows tagged text in any format to be integrated with graphics of any format to produce a complete technical manual which can be viewed via a standard web browser. The IETM allows parts ordering directly from the parts manual.

Listed below are summaries of the projects/services provided to date. This is not inclusive of what LTI may be able to provide for your specific IT service needs.

• From January 2000 – September 2002, LTI completed data conversion of 6 CLML Volumes (Medical Journals). The six conversion projects noted were projects for the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) Medical Journals that will be placed on the NLM MEDLINE Internet site. The project scope included batching, double entry keying, verification, quality control and export of subject index and register of articles data.
• LTI has also been trained to provide digitization services in the area of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) through the Native American Data Conversion Program (NADCP) supporting the Department of Defense services. Mainly converting graphics from paper to electronic format. This program is funded through 2005.
• Upper level PowerPoint presentations are another area of LTI's expertise.
• From August 2006 – April 2007, LTI converted over 150,000 legacy technical manual pages into PDF format.  Project scope consisted of inventory, scanning, OCR, pdf enhancements, metadata creation and quality control per client specifications.
